Blackwell Publishing

Blackwell Publishing Inc.

In the early 1990s, Blackwell Publishers moved its US headquarters from New York to Boston. Blackwell Science had already established its Boston office in 1982. With the global merger of the two firms in July 2001 (they were already sharing offices), the U.S. operations became Blackwell Publishing Inc. Gordon Tibbitts was appointed President of the newly merged U.S. company and has successfully grown the business by close to 20% each year. While humanities and social sciences have long been the cornerstone of the company's publishing collection, medical and science titles have largely increased in recent years. Blackwell journal titles include the American Journal of Gastroenterology (2004), Psychological Science, and Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology. On the book side, Blackwell publishes the highly respected Blueprints book series comprising works written by students for students in medicine.
