Author's Licensing and Collecting Society 
The ALCS is the British rights management society for all writers. Its principal business is to distribute fees to writers whose work has been copied, broadcast or recorded. 

Public Lending Right 
Under the public lending right system, payment is made from government funds to authors whose books are borrowed from public libraries. The amount payable is proportionate to the estimated number of times that an author's books are borrowed nationally during the PLR year (July-June).
